In 2011, I attended the Pointed Pen Extended Study held throughout the year in Birmingham, Alabama. Dana Jacobson, our amazing coordinator and originator of the concept, arranged classes from different teachers on different aspects of using the pointed pen. Pat Blair (White House calligrapher), Gwen Weaver, Barbara Close,  and Heather Held taught us about copperplate, spencerian, flourishing, “Weaver” writing, reproduction work, and tons of tidbits for us to refine our lettering skills. It was an amazing endeavor, spent with old (and new!) friends that I will remember always.
